Although I have lived in Vancouver for nine years now (It’s been THAT long?!) I haven’t really ventured out to any of the islands, so this year I made it a point to start adventuring out more!
The first on the hit list is Bowen Island. For this trip we stayed at the wonderful Nectar Yoga B&B.
Bowen Island is super convenient to get to, especially if you live downtown. Better suited for those with a car, but doable by transit as well! From Horseshoe Bay take the Snug Cove ferry that runs about every hour or so.
There are gorgeous views while riding the ferry!
Nectar Yoga B&B is located just a short car ride away on Miller’s Road, really convienient to get to once off the ferry!
The space is really neat, what with a yoga dome in the woods! Andrea offers several yoga class options, but we only took one class this time as my other half is brand new to yoga and shy… Next time will definitely make the most out of it!
Hello tranquil oasis aka The Nectar Loft!
Inside the Nectar Loft is cozy and cute! I really enjoyed sleeping in the loft and having views into the forest.
Of course being a B&B, breakfast was brought to us every morning (why can’t this be all the time in life!?) Each was super delicious and healthy with plenty of fresh fruit. Mmm those waffles!
There are several beautiful rock beaches on Bowen Island, from a hidden beach just a short walk away from Nectar, to more well known ones like Tunstall Bay. The water is super clear, but you may catch some kelp in your hair!
We also went on a lovely walk along Killarney Lake. Be careful of the leeches in the mud if you go for a swim! Perfect laid back trails for all levels. On our next visit we’ll hike it up to Mt. Gardner for some even better views.
Spotted some fluffy friends too.
To think all this was only a short trip away from downtown Vancouver. We both felt very relaxed, rejuvenated, and happy to have escaped the city noise during a pretty busy long weekend with various events happening. As we both grew up in quiet woody neighborhoods, this trip brought us back to being little kids again. Couldn’t have asked for a better long weekend trip! Thank you to the lovely Andrea for a wonderful yoga class, and for Nectar Yoga B&B.
What’s around your backyard that you may not have explored?
